2018 Unibet Premier League Darts: Week 10 Preview & Betting Tips

April 11th 2018, 11:47am, By: admin

Relegation has come and gone as Judgement Night claimed Gerwyn Price and Mensur Suljovic to leave us with just eight players in the 2018 Unibet Premier League of Darts.

Now, as we get closer to the business end of the season, the goal will be to reach the semi-finals. Here’s how the leaderboard looks after the first nine weeks of the season:

Unibet Premier League

It’s a big night for both Raymond van Barneveld and Peter Wright, who are sitting 7th and 8th on the leaderboard, as they will both be playing twice this evening. We had a massive fill-up last week with our Judgement Night betting tips so hopefully we can match that with our Premier League Week 10 Betting Tips!

Unibet Premier Leage Week 10 Betting Tips

Raymond van Barneveld vs Daryl Gurney

In the first match of the night, Raymond van Barneveld will take on Daryl Gurney. The man they call “Super Chin” has been finding his feet in the Premier League and hasn’t been defeated since Week 4 against MVG, including draws against Peter Wright and Gary Anderson, and a win over Rob Cross during that time. That’s impressive form. Conversely, Barney’s form has been erratic this season and he was destroyed 7-0 by Michael Smith last week. When these two met back in Week 1, it was a draw, but in reality it was a match that Gurney should’ve won if he took his chances. He’s playing more consistently now, so I think Gurney can hold his nerve and get the win, but we’ll take the safety net of the “Draw No Bet” market. We also want to make a play in the 180s markets – you can either look to take the Most 180s or the over 3.5 line.

TIP: Daryl Gurney win (Draw No Bet) – $1.80 at Sportsbet
TIP: Daryl Gurney over 3.5 180s - $1.72 at Ladbrokes

Gary Anderson vs Peter Wright

Peter Wright was fortunate to escape relegation considering he only has one victory in the first nine weeks of matches. Even more remarkable is that victory was against world number one Michael van Gerwen. Either way, it’s a long road back for the “Snakebite”. It’s really hard to know where he’s at. He’s shown moments of good form and then some rather hopeless efforts, which makes betting a tricky proposition. Gary Anderson would be disappointed to drop his match against Rob Cross last week, but he has shown some good moments this season. I think Anderson can bounce back here to keep the pressure on the top four.

TIP: Gary Anderson to win - $1.90 at Unibet

Simon Whitlock vs Michael van Gerwen

Simon Whitlock has reached his first goal of avoiding relegation this season, and now he has eyes on the semi-finals. His form has been pretty good all season, so it would be nice to see him finish strong. However it’s a tough ask here against Michael van Gerwen who hasn’t done much wrong all season, dropping just the one game against Peter Wright, and winning every other match with a +32 leg differential. They are dominant stats, but if Whitlock plays well then he can cover the handicap.

TIP: Simon Whitlock +3.5 vs Michael van Gerwen - $2.21 at Unibet

Michael Smith vs Rob Cross

This should be a cracking match with two of the rising stars of the tour. While Rob Cross is the reigning World Champion, Michael Smith has been the real surprise packet this season, and at times has been brutally efficient. He’s remained clutch in big situations against highly-ranked opponents, which has been key to his success this season. His season average of 93.59 is easily the worst of the remaining eight players, yet he has only dropped two matches this season. One of those was against Rob Cross in Week 5. After a slow start to the season, Cross has been excellent and is back to some of his best form from the World Championships. There’s no doubt, he should be favourite in this match, but I think the odds have him a bit short and the value is definitely with Smith to win, or you can take the handicap for a safer option.

TIP: Michael Smith to win (Draw No Bet) - $2.62 at Sportsbet

Raymond vs Barneveld vs Peter Wright

The final match of the night sees Barney and Wright clash, and depending on how these two went earlier in the night, another loss here could just about be curtains for their season. Wright is a slight favourite and he’ll be the more desperate of the two, but it could be a case of too little too late. Statistically, they are both very similar. Historically, they are similar and their form lines are equally erratic. Barney did thump Wright 7-1 when they met earlier in the season, but that was when Wright was in his form/injury slump. I honestly have no idea in this one and am reluctant to put my money anywhere near these two.

TIP: No thanks
