2018 Brownlow Vote Predictions Round 21

August 15th 2018, 12:03am, By: Brownlow Bandit

Once again Before You Bet is back with our rolling Brownlow Medal Tracker for the 2018 season. We’ll be providing comments for every game of the season, along with our vote predictions to help with your projections for the 2018 AFL season.

Our Brownlow predictions are one of the most popular aspects of the site with punters able to scoop huge profits using the information found in these pages. You’ll be able to stay up to date with our current Top 20 2018 Brownlow Medal leaderboardwhile there will be links to every single round-by-round voting posted there.

For those who need a refresher on how our Brownlow vote system works, we assign 6 votes per game so that our total votes are the same as the official 3-2-1 system, however we break up those votes as we see fit across potentially more than three players. Some games are really tough to call which way the votes will go, so a better predictive model is to split performances and assign half points to each player where there is doubt. So for example if two players dominate and it's too hard to split their performance, they are given 2.5 votes each, with the remaining 1 vote given to another player(s). This will give us a predictive total closer to their true total, rather than guessing. We can form a 'range' for each player (ie a min and max we think players can poll) with the thinking behind this that the variations from the half votes will even out over the long term.

If you intend on using our Brownlow votes to bet why not consider one of the best Australian sports betting sites which offer some great incentives for new customers. Also be sure to check out our Twitter page at @Before_You_Bet and continue returning to the site for our AFL tips, and of course, check out our 2018 Brownlow Round 21 Vote Predictions below!

2018 Brownlow Medal Predicted Votes – Round 21

Essendon 18.14.122 def St.Kilda 11.13.79

A big win for the Bombers with David Myers one of their best with 29 disposals, 9 marks and two goals. Zach Merrett (36 disposals), Andrew McGrath (33 disposals) and Dyson Heppell (29 disposals, 11 marks, one goal) won plenty of the ball while Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti finished it off with 5 goals from 15 possessions and 7 tackles in one of his best games. Sebastian Ross was outstanding with 43 disposals while Jack Steele picked up 31 disposals and 8 tackles.

David Myers – 2
Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti – 2
Sebastian Ross – 1
Andrew McGrath – 1

Hawthorn 10.11.71 def Geelong 8.12.60

A win for the Hawks but the little master Gary Ablett was arguably the best player on the ground as he racked up 32 disposals, 8 tackles and 3 goals in a vintage display. Patrick Dangerfield was also very good with 39 possessions but it wasn’t enough to get the win. James Worpel (23 disposals, 8 tackles) and Shaun Burgoyne (20 disposals, 14 tackles) were great contributors, while Tom Mitchell was well held despite picking up 32 touches.

Gary Ablett – 3
Patrick Dangerfield – 2
James Worpel – 1

Gold Coast 7.9.51 def by Richmond 19.11.125

An unbelievable effort from Jack Riewoldt brought back memories of a different era as the Tiger ace kicked 10 majors in a massive win. It could’ve been even more as Riewoldt kicked 10.6 from 26 disposals and 14 marks in a dominant best-on-ground display. Dusty Martin picked up 28 disposals and a goal, Shaun Grigg had 26 posessions while Josh Caddy loves nothing more than a cheap win as he kicked 4 goals from 22 touches.

Jack Riewoldt - 3
Dustin Martin - 2
Josh Caddy - 1

Port Adelaide 9.4.58 def by West Coast 9.8.62

The West Coast sent a dagger through the heart of the Power with a kick after the siren to pinch victory. Luke Shuey (31 disposals), Elliot Yeo (25 disposals, 1 goal) and Mark LeCras (24 disposals, 1 goal) were the main ball winners for the Eagles, while Scott Lycett was huge in the ruck with 40 hitouts and 19 disposals. Tom Jonas was best for the Power with 30 disposals and 13 marks.

Luke Shuey – 3
Scott Lycett – 2
Elliot Yeo – 0.5
Tom Jonas – 0.5

Collingwood 14.20.104 def Brisbane 11.7.73

The Pies got back on track with a win against the Lions with Taylor Adams leading the way with 33 disposals. Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom both had 28 touches, while Jaidyn Stephenson moved closer to the Rising Star award with an influential 25 disposals and 2 goals. Jordan De Goey finished the work up forward with 4 goals from 12 touches. For the Lions, Dayne Beams (33 disposals, 1 goal) and Alex Witherden (30 disposals, 11 marks) both tried valiantly.

Taylor Adams - 2.5
Jaidyn Stephenson – 2.5
Dayne Beams - 1

GWS 15.16.106 def Adelaide 13.14.92

GWS were hit by injuries once again but still got the points against the Crows. Lachie Whitfield (30 disposals, 11 marks, 1 goal) and Callan Ward (27 disposals) were the leading ball winners for the Giants, while Harry Himmelberg had a good game with 18 disposals and 2 goals. Matt Crouch (30 disposals) and Brodie Smith (29 disposals) were best for the Crows.

Lachie Whitfield – 3
Callan Ward – 2
Brodie Smith - 1

North Melbourne 12.13.85 def by Western Bulldogs 13.14.92

A horrific third quarter could cost the Roos a spot in the finals as they gave up a 28-point lead, and the four points, to the lowly Dogs. The on-ball Bulldogs fleet were allowed to run wild as it was the first game in history that three players from the same team collected 40+ disposals. Lachie Hunter (44 disposals, 8 marks), Jack Macrae (40 disposals, 6 marks) and Caleb Daniel (40 disposals) were everywhere while Marcus Bontempelli was arguably the most damaging with 35 disposals and 2 goals. The stuff of nightmares for Roos fans.

Marcus Bontempelli – 3
Lachie Hunter – 2
Caleb Daniel – 0.5
Jack Macrae – 0.5

Melbourne 10.18.78 def by Sydney 13.9.87

Are the Dees going to miss the finals...somehow? It was a crucial win for the Swans with Jake Lloyd (31 disposals, 10 marks), Josh Kennedy (28 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 goal) and Nic Newman (22 disposals, 12 marks) having strong performances while Lance Franklin was also influential, kicking 2.5 from 19 disposals. However it might’ve been the performance of Isaac Heeney in the last quarter that won them the game with multiple interception marks, including mark of the year, among 19 possessions and 2 goals. Might be a tricky game for voting.

Isaac Heeney – 2
Jake Lloyd – 2
Nic Newman – 1
Josh Kennedy - 1

Fremantle 15.11.101 def Carlton 10.12.72

The Dockers were too good at home un an uninspiring contest with Ed Langdon (31 disposals, 12 marks, 1 goal), Lachie Neale (34 disposals, 1 goal) and David Mundy (28 disposals, 1 goal) strong through the middle. As usual, Patrick Cripps was best for the Blues with 32 touches.

Lachie Neale – 3
Ed Langdon – 2
Patrick Cripps - 1
