2018-19 EPL: Week 7 Preview & Betting Tips

September 26th 2018, 10:41am, By: SundayLeagueShark

Unfortunately, we went missed two tips and pushed on the third in last week’s EPL betting tips. Some surprising results throughout the round including a nil all draw between West Ham and Chelsea on Sunday night were definitely unexpected.

We’ll look to improve this weekend as we take a look at some of the key games in Week 7 of the EPL which gets underway at 9.30pm Saturday night with West Ham hosting Manchester United. The headline game of the weekend sees Chelsea squaring off against Liverpool early Sunday morning.

EPL Week 7 Betting Tips

West Ham vs Manchester United (Saturday 9.30pm AEST)

After a very shaky start to the season, West Ham have bounced back over the past two games. Their first win of the season came over Everton last season and was followed by a gallant 0-0 draw with Chelsea at home on the weekend. They’ll be at home again this weekend against Manchester United whom they haven’t beaten in their last five attempts.

Manchester United bounced back from a two-game losing streak to Brighton and Tottenham to take seven points in their last three EPL games. A 2-0 away win over Burnley was followed by a fantastic 2-1 away win against Watford and a 1-1 home draw against the Wolves on the weekend. Manchester United will be looking to get a few more wins on the board before taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the 20th of October to mark the start of a tough stretch of games.

As we mentioned above, West Ham have failed to take maximum points in their last five games against the Red Devils, the last of which came back in May of this year and ended in a 0-0 draw. In fact, the Hammers have failed to even score a goal in their last three contests with Manchester United, while the Red Devils have plundered six goals in that time. They were held goalless by the Blues on the weekend as well. West Ham could get a few key players back from injury this weekend in Javier Hernandez and Arnautovic, we expect them to be more competitive Saturday night than they have been in their last few against Man U.

Arsenal vs Watford (Sunday 12am AEST)

Arsenal have been one of the most in form teams in the competition since bouncing back from a tough start to the season. Their first two games were against Chelsea and Manchester City and didn’t go to plan, since then however, they have been perfect, winning four games in a row and scoring 10 goals in the process. Their wins have come against decent opponents as well including West Ham, Everton and Newcastle.

Arsenal will get a tough test this weekend as they face Watford, albeit at home, who are fourth on the EPL table with a 4-1-1 record. After winning their first four games, Watford have managed to take just one point from their last two games, a 1-1 draw with Fulham on the weekend. They’ll look to get through this away clash with Arsenal unscathed before a relatively easy stretch of five games should see them cement a spot inside the top 6-8.

Arsenal start as $1.36 favourites for the clash, which seems about right given their form over the past four games and with the home field advantage. The teams have traded wins in recent history, with each club claiming three wins from their last six matches. One thing that has been consistent between them is goals. Throughout the last seven game, the two sides have combined for at least three goals in every game, and we expect this to be another high scorer as Arsenal have kept just one clean sheet from six games so far this year.

Chelsea vs Liverpool ( Sunday 2.30am AEST)

The game of the round sees top of the table Liverpool facing off against third in Chelsea on Sunday morning. The Blues dropped their first points of the season on the weekend after a 0-0 draw with West Ham. They did, however, control the majority of the game, maintaining 72% possession and firing 17 shots so were probably a little unlucky not to find the back of the net at least once. They have looked fantastic so far this season, particularly midfielder/forward Eden Hazard, who currently leads the golden boot tally with five goals.

Liverpool remain the only perfect team in the EPL through six games. They have decimated everyone they have come across their path, claiming some decent scalps in West Ham and Tottenham along the way. They did face an underperforming Tottenham team a few weeks ago, however, so this will definitely be their biggest test of the season to date and should be a good barometer to where they currently stand. Sadio Mane and Mo Salah have been fantastic to start the season, scoring seven goals between them and combining with Roberto Firmino to create the best attacking trio in the league.

The two teams have been hard to separate in their last few encounters. Chelsea won a 1-0 affair back in May but the two games prior to that both resulted in 1-1 draws. Only 3 of their last 11 games have resulted in over 2.5 goals and both teams should be coming into this one pretty tentative. Chelsea boast a great defence, one that should be capable of putting the brakes on the rampant Liverpool offence.
