2017 Rugby Championship Round 6 Preview & Betting Tips

October 4th 2017, 8:21pm, By: C.McGregor9

The 2017 Rugby Championships continues this weekend and even though the All Blacks have wrapped up another title, Australia and South Africa are still contesting for second place. We take a look at both of the weekend's games in our Rugby Championships Round 6 Preview and Betting Tips below.

South Africa vs New Zealand (Sunday 2am AEST)

The Springboks are coming off another draw with Australia in a match which was tight the entire time. They will be hoping to get a better start against the All Blacks then in their last game, where they allowed New Zealand to wrap up the victory inside the opening 30-minutes of the contest. The Springboks will need to make the most of their time with the ball, as they had the majority of possession but costly turn overs led to quick tries for their opponents. They need to be better at the breakdown and at set pieces.

Meanwhile New Zealand wrapped up another title with ease. They earned a comfortable 36-10 victory on the road against Argentina and all of the work was done early on. The All Blacks have started all of their games strong but have made a habit of putting it into cruise control early. With the title wrapped up, we could see their effort and energy levels drop but ultimately they will come away with the victory.

TIP: South Africa (+14.5) – $1.90 with Sportsbet

Argentina vs Australia (Sunday 9.40am AEST)

The Australians cruised to a bonus point victory at home when these two sides met earlier in the year, but we are expecting them to have trouble, like they always have, on the road. The Wallabies were able to earn a draw against the Springboks last week and we believe they are slowly rising in their performance level. Their forwards are laying a better platform for their backs and are improving at the breakdown and set pieces. They will need to be at their best as the Pumas will attempt to gain an advantage in this area.

Meanwhile Argentina has been sitting on the bottom of the ladder since the beginning of the competition. It has been their worst Rugby Championship to date and we are expecting them to put up a strong fight in this one. They don’t get much of an advantage at the line so we will be backing the Aussies to clear it.

TIP: Australia (-7) – $1.90 with William Hill
