2017 AFL: Daily Fantasy Tips for Round 22

August 18th 2017, 3:35pm, By: andyrosos

Another fairly average week for us attempting to pick a winning team in the Draftstars Saturday $30k challenge. However, we aren’t after a solid performance week to week, we are just looking for that one weekend where everything works out and we can collect big. In saying that, we present our AFL Daily Fantasy Team of the Week for Round 22 below.

Don't forget, along with DraftStars, there's also plenty of money to be won at other Daily Fantasy and Fantasy Betting sites like MoneyballTopBetta and SportChamps! And you can track your progress and see how you fair against the best players at those DFS sites at the brand new Daily Fantasy Rankings website.

AFL Daily Fantasy Team of the Week – Round 22

Forwards

afl team of the weekJoe Daniher
We are going with a slight Essendon v Gold Coast stack for our team this week it’s likely going to be the game with the highest scores due to favourable weather and free flowing teams. Joe Daniher is still in a race for the Coleman Medal while the Bombers will be playing their best footy in an aim to make the eight. Should smash Gold Coast and Joe should have plenty of opportunity.

Keegan Brooksby
Still no Jarrad Witts for the Suns which means youngster Keegan Brooksby will get the nod as first choice ruckman with Daniel Currie going out with a foot injury. Not looking for much out of him at just $10,950. Scored 82 in his only game of the season back in May against Paddy Ryder so could be on for a decent score.

Midfielders

Zach Merrett
Returns from suspension this week and should be feeling fresh and ready to go after the break. Hasn’t scored over 100 in his last three outings which has seen his price come down a bit but should get first use of it here against an undermanned GC team. Could be the scorer of the week.

Martin Gleeson
could take a bit of a hit in production with Merrett coming back into the side this weekend but impressed last week with 83 in a losing side against the Crows. Should retain some of his midfield time and racks up a lot of uncontested marks across half back.

Kade Simpson
The Hawks have been the easiest team to score on throughout the season so far while the blues half backs have run rampant on the competition all year with Sam Docherty and Kade Simpson two of the highest scoring defenders in the league. Hasn’t had a score over 100 in the last few weeks but should see plenty of it on Saturday, the ball should be down his end for the majority of the game.

Pearce Hanley
Has been seeing more midfield time with the depletion of the Suns mids of late and has scores of 96 and 82 in his last two games. Value pick at $11,900 and has the ability to go big. No Ablett again this week means he’ll get plenty of time in the guts.

Defenders

Nick Haynes
Easy to get lost in the flowing blonde hair and flashy plays Haynes produces on a nightly basis, but the defender has been solid of late and took a ridiculous 11 marks against the Dogs on the weekend, most of them intercepts. Has taken on the role of the loose man in defence for the Giants and benefitted last weekend with 21 touches. Bargain at $10,300.

Jackson Thurlow
Has been great since Joel Selwood went out with injury a few weeks ago with scores of 90 and 84. Collingwood have been one of the easier teams to score on throughout the year so far and regardless of Mitch Duncan coming back into the side this weekend we think Thurlow should still get his opportunity.

Ruck

Mason Cox
Still no Brodie Grundy for the Pies so Cox will get the 1st choice ruck job here. Put up a respectable 25 hit-outs against arguably the best ruckman in the league last weekend so that number should climb against Zac Smith.
