2017 AFL: Daily Fantasy Tips for Round 12

June 9th 2017, 4:49pm, By: andyrosos

Our Round 11 fantasy team of the week put up a respectable performance after we subbed in Jonathon Griffen when Aaron Sandilands was a late inclusion. The sub propelled us into the top fifty of the Sunday 25k and we’ll be aiming for another high finish as we present our AFL Round 12 Fantasy Team of the Week for the Saturday $30k tournament at Draftstars.

Don't forget, along with DraftStars, there's also plenty of money to be won at other Daily Fantasy and Fantasy Betting sites like MoneyballTopBetta and SportChamps! And you can track your progress and see how you fair against the best players at those DFS sites at the brand new Daily Fantasy Rankings website.

AFL Daily Fantasy Team of the Week – Round 12

TOTW Round 12Defenders

Matt Rosa ($10,350)

The Gold Coast midfielder returns to the side after a few weeks out through injury with a 67 last week. Should see plenty more time in the midfield this week and go closer to the 120 that he had in his last game before injury. At any rate, getting a midfielder in defence for $10,300 is always a solid option.

Luke Ryan ($6,400)

Didn’t have the best of debuts with just 36 points on 7 disposals. However, the performance means his price stays at $6,400 and with the Dockers facing off against the Lions this weekend we expect a bit more production out of the rookie. Still a value pick regardless.

Midfielders

Tom Mitchell ($18,500)

Was tossing up between Mitchell and the returning Rockliff for the MID1 position but opted for Mitchell due to the unknown of Rocky’s return game. With 177, 108 and 118 in his last three, you can almost lock Mitchell in for a big game against Gold Coast. Should be a high scoring match.

Ollie Wines ($14,350)

Essendon are a stingy team in terms of fantasy, allowing the third least on average in 2017. However, Wines has exploded for a 111 and a 110 in his last two games and looks unstoppable in the midfield at the moment. Is a tier two in terms of price who is capable of scoring with the best of them.

Lachie Neale ($13,700)

After a poor performance of 60 in Round 10, Neale was back over the 100 mark in Round 11 with a 104. Comes up against the Lions this weekend who have allowed the third most fantasy points on average in 2017. The pricing is still taking his 60 into account so is a bargain at $13,700, could be the week’s top scorer.

Pearce Hanley ($10,900)

Had just 30 in his Round 10 return game after 9 weeks out of action. Backed it up in Round 11 with a whopping 121 points including 31 touches and 12 marks. Was a ball magnet in Brisbane and players rarely lose the ability to find the football. At $10,900 he is great value and should be around the 100 mark again. Hawthorn also allow the most points on average per game.

Forwards

Alex Sexton ($8,950)

As mentioned above, Hawthorn allow the most points on average in 2017 and after a big weekend of 92 in Round 11 should be firing on all cylinders. Doesn’t need to kick goals to score well as proven last week when he racked up 22 disposals and 8 marks. Should go well against the Hawks.

Brennan Cox ($6,400)

Another value pick here in first gamer Brennan Cox from the Dockers. Complete unknown but playing against the Lions so should be able to get his hands on the footy if he desires. Skimping here allowed us to go large in the midfield so a 50-60 would work well from the debutant.

Ruck

Jonathon Griffen ($10,200)

Proved last weekend that he is capable of taking on the sole ruck responsibilities. Is incredibly mobile for a ruckman and while he might not be a hit out king, racked up 5 marks and 5 tackles last weekend to go along with 13 disposals for a score of 89. Will happily take that again.
