2017-18 EPL: Week 7 Preview & Betting Tips

September 27th 2017, 2:50pm, By: SundayLeagueShark

Another week hitting on just 2 out of 5 bets last week to keep our years winning percentage at 40%. We had some absolute stinkers on the weekend with Tottenham conceding in the 87th minute to relinquish the -1 handicap and Jamie Vardy missing a penalty that would have given us a win in our Leicester double chance bet.

The two wins we did have, however, came on 2 and 1.5 unit bets respectively with the three losses all coming on 1 unit bets, so we only lost 0.2 units on the week which we will look to improve on in our Week 7 EPL betting tips below.

EPL Week 7 Betting Tips

Huddersfield vs Tottenham (Saturday 9.30pm AEST)

Another away game to open the round for the Spurs here as they dealt with West Ham quiet comfortably last Saturday night despite the last-minute goal. They tallied 15 shots against the Hammers with Harry Kane finding the back of the net twice to take his season tally to four. Tottenham have looked rusty to start the season but seemed to be getting back on track in the last few weeks with away wins over Everton and West Ham in their last three games.

The Spurs currently sit 4th on the table and will be hunting another win here to edge closer to the top trio of Chelsea, Man City and Man United, two of whom play each other this weekend. Should be a great chance for them against the promoted Huddersfield squad, expect them to take advantage of it.

Huddersfield were astute in defence against the Burnley on the weekend, allowing just 4 total shots and just 2 on goal in their 0-0 draw. Their problem is at the other end of the grounf. They have scored just 5 goals on the season so far, and with 3 of them coming in week one against Crystal Palace, they are very shaky going forward against quality sides. Tottenham have a great defence which allowed the fewest goals in the league last year at 26, we can’t see them letting one through against Huddersfield this weekend.

TIP: Tottenham to win to nil - $2.25 at Sportsbet (1.5 units)

Chelsea vs Manchester City (Sunday 12am AEST)

The game of the round sees Chelsea host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge kicking off at midnight Saturday night. Both clubs are coming off great wins on the weekend, with Cheslea downing Stoke 4-0 away from home and Manchester City decimating Crystal Palace 5-0. It should be a much more defensive clash this weekend, however, with both clubs not wanting to let their ladder position slip.

Chelsea can draw level with Manchester City with a win, while the Citizens can put some distance between themselves and the Blues at the top of the table if they come out on top. Manchester United will likely get the win over Crystal Palace at home to move to 19 points, so a win for both of these clubs is massive.

Manchester City is undefeated throughout the year so far and except for a blemish against Burnley in Week 1 where the Blues were handed a 16th minute red card, Chelsea too have been great. The Blues are incredibly tough to beat at home, they lost just 2 games there all last season and we like them to continue their good form at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

TIP: Chelsea to win - $2.80 at Ladbrokes (1 unit)

Manchester United vs Crystal Palace (Sunday 12am AEST)

Amazingly, through six games so far this season, Crystal Palace are yet to register a point and are still yet to even score a goal. While they showed signs of promise early in their game against Manchester City, when the floodgates finally opened in the 44th minute, there was no stopping the Citizens as they went on to a 5-0 win.

They face another really tough prospect this weekend in Manchester United, who are undefeated throughout the season. Man U have already piled on 17 goals through 6 games this season and have allowed just two with their rock solid defence.

Even at Crystal Palace we’d give the Eagles little to no chance of winning this match, but at Old Trafford where the Reds have looked nearly invincible this season, we can’t see them conceding a goal here.

TIP: Manchester United to win to nil - $1.62 at CrownBet (2 units)

West Brom vs Watford (Sunday 12am AEST)

Watford have been one of the surprise packets of the season so far and also one of the best cash cows for our EPL betting tips. Week in week out the bookies continue to set high odds for them and they continue to deliver. Last weekend it was away from home against Swansea and this weekend they come up against West Brom at the Hawthorns.

The Hornets have lost just one game this season and that was against a rampant Manchester City side. West Brom on the other hand have been inconsistent at best, with a 2-2-2 record throughout their six games.

Watford have shown their class against some quality sides this season in the likes of a win over Southampton and a draw with Liverpool. Away from home we think the $2.25 being offered for them is great value.

TIP: Watford to win - $2.25 at Sportsbet (1 unit)

Newcastle vs Liverpool (Monday 2.30am AEST)

Liverpool have been up and down so far in 2017 but mostly down during the last few weeks after a 5-0 loss to Manchester City and a 1-1 draw with Burnley. They were able to secure a lucky 3-2 win over Leicester on the weekend after a Jamie Vardy missed penalty but will need another win here to stay in contact with the top three teams.

After losing their first two games, Newcastle went on a 3-game win streak, downing West Ham, Swansea and Stoke in back to back weeks. They travelled to Brighton last weekend where they lost 1-0 but were dominant in the game, tallying 17 shots to the Seagulls 7.

Newcastle have definitely turned the corner after a slow start and should welcome the return to St. James Park here. Liverpool have struggled away from home this year, winning just one game so we like Newcastle in the double chance market here.

TIP: Newcastle double chance - $2 at Ladbrokes (1.5 units)
