2017-18 EPL: Week 24 Preview & Betting Tips

January 18th 2018, 11:41am, By: andyrosos

Disappointing week in our EPL betting tips last weekend as we hit on just 1 of 4 bets. What a thrilling week it was though, as Manchester City finally met their demise at the hands of a rampant Liverpool team. We’ll look to improve our betting form here as we look forward to Week 24 of the EPL season here.

EPL Week 24 Betting Tips

Brighton vs Chelsea (Saturday 11.30pm AEDT)

Brighton and Chelsea will get Week 24 underway on Saturday night in the SBS televised game. Chelsea have drawn their last two matches against Arsenal and Leicester City but should get a bit of an easier contest here against Brighton, who have won just one of their last 10 matches. Chelsea are clinging to the final spot in the top four, equal on points with Liverpool and just three ahead of a charging Tottenham squad.

After a surprising start to the year that saw them in the top ten on the EPL table, Brighton have come crashing back to earth over the last ten games, winning just one of them. They were thoroughly outplayed by West Ham on the weekend, going down 2-0 and although they’ll be home against Chelsea, their 3-6-2 home record on the season so far doesn’t inspire a great deal of confidence.

This is just the 10th meeting between the Blues and Brighton, with Chelsea having won each of the last seven in all competitions. The two teams met at Stamford Bridge back in December and Chelsea comfortably won 2-0, we expect a similar type score line here against the struggling Brighton.

TIP: Chelsea to win to nil - $2.25 at Sportsbet

Burnley vs Manchester United (Sunday 2am AEDT)

Burnley have lost their last two matches and will face another hard test this weekend as they host Manchester United on Sunday morning. Currently sitting 7th on the EPL table, Burnley will be desperate to get back on the winners list here to retain a position in the top seven and keep their hopes of playing in next season’s Europa League alive.

Manchester United have bounced back to win their last two after a tough stetch of games that included three draws a loss in six games. The wins over Everton and Stoke came at the right time of year for Manchester, who were slipping and are now in danger of being reeled in by the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Promising signs lie with United in terms of recent history between the two teams, as Burnley have won just one of the last 24 meetings with the Red Devils. Burnley was one of the teams to force a draw with United just a few weeks ago, and will get the advantage of being back at home for this clash. They had one of the better home records in the league last season but are just 5-2-4 record at Turf Moor this season.

Really tough match to call here but based on the fact that these two teams drew just a few weeks ago in Manchester, we like Burnley to find some sort of result at home here.

TIP: Burnley + Draw (double chance) - $2.40 at Sportsbet

Manchester City vs Newcastle (Sunday 4.30am AEDT)

Manchester City finally met their match on the weekend, going down 4-3 to Liverpool in their first loss of the season. It shatters the dream of going the full season undefeated but still leaves them a whopping 12 points clear on top of the EPL table. They’re still red hot favourites to take out the title and will have to completely meltdown to allow their cross town rivals Manchester United back into it.

Newcastle have won just two of their last 10 games and currently sit just three points clear of the relegation zone in what has been a very inconsistent season. They have struggled to find any sort of form and with Manchester City and United in their next four games, they could be staring down the barrel of relegation in the next month.

Manchester City are unbeaten against Newcastle in their last 20 Premier League contests, which is the Citizens longest such streak in the team’s history. 17 wins and 3 draws make up those 20 unbeaten games, with the last eight in a row all ending in Manchester wins. At home and fired up after their first loss of the season, we can’t see City losing this one.

TIP: Manchester City -2 - $1.92 at Ladbrokes

Swansea vs Liverpool (Tuesday 7am AEDT)

After inarguably the best game of the EPL season so far, Liverpool are absolutely flying. They have won their last four games and seven of their last 10 including the monster 4-3 win against Manchester City on the weekend. The Reds now sit 3rd on the EPL table, behind only the two Manchester teams, and don’t look like slowing down as they sit just three points behind United.

Swansea have been one of the worst teams in the EPL this season, and with just a 4-5-14 record through 23 games, they find themselves on the bottom of the table. There’s still 15 games to go in the season, so the four point margin they’ll need to claw back to stay in the Premier League isn’t unassailable by any means, but with Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester and Burnley across their next four games, that margin could increase.

Swansea have scored just 14 goals so far this season, while only Manchester City has scored more than Liverpool, who boast a whopping 54 through their 23 games. No way the Swans can keep up with Liverpool here.

TIP: Liverpool -1 - $1.72 at CrownBet
