2016-17 EPL: Week 25 Preview & Betting Tips

February 9th 2017, 5:10pm, By: andyrosos

Week 25 of the EPL kicks off Saturday night with Arsenal taking on Hull City in the early SBS televised game. We went 3-2 on last week’s tips, but we’ll be looking for a better outing this week as we preview some of the key match-ups in Week 25 of the 2016-17 EPL Season.

EPL Week 25 Betting Tips

Arsenal vs Hull City (Saturday 11.30pm AEDT)

Arsenal will host Hull City in the early Saturday night game to be televised on SBS. The Gunners desperately need a win, after sitting in second position just a few weeks ago, a couple of tough losses to Watford and Chelsea has seen them drop to fourth on the table, trailing Man City by two points. They’ll have one eye on their midweek Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, however, meaning we could see a varied Arsenal lineup.

The opportunity of playing Hull City at home comes at the perfect time for Arsenal. They should be able to get themselves back on the winners list here and hopefully stay in Champions League contention. With Liverpool and Manchester United hot on their tails just one and two points behind respectively, the Gunners will have everything to play for here and I feel comfortable taking them to win it by at least two goals.

TIP: Arsenal -1 - $1.73 at Bet365

Manchester United vs Watford (Sunday 2am AEDT)

Manchester United are undefeated over their last 10 games, winning 7 of them, and look one of the form teams of the competition at the moment. They 3-0 dismantling of Champions Leicester last week was a testament to how well their offence is starting to click, with recruits Henrik Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic both getting on the scorers list.

Watford are undefeated through their last 4 games, with 2 handy wins over Arsenal and Burnley in their last 2 fixtures. If all goes according to play here, Manchester should be too strong for Marco Silva’s men. Since employing a 4-4-2 formation that includes both Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford in the starting lineup, Manchester have look dangerous going forward. I see no reason why they can’t secure a home victory here to really push for top four contention.

Ibrahimovic now sits 2nd on the golden boot tally with 15 goals on the season and looks more and more comfortable in the Man U offence every game. William Hill are offering 20c more than any other bookmaker for him to score at any time during the match.

TIP: Ibrahimovic anytime goal scorer - $1.85 at William Hill

Liverpool vs Tottenham (Sunday 4.30am AEDT)

The game of the round sees 5th place Liverpool hosting 2nd place Tottenham on Sunday morning. The Spurs have had a great last ten games, going 7-2-1 and are praying Chelsea slip up sooner or later so they can begin to make some ground on the table leaders. It’ll be a tough few weeks for Tottenham, with Liverpool, Stoke and Everton their next three fixtures. Luckily for them, they don’t have any more Champions League soccer to worry about, after being knocked out in the group stage. If anyone is to have a real crack at chasing down the rampant Blues, it will be Tottenham.

Liverpool will come into this game carrying some horrid form. They have failed to claim three points since a decent 1-0 win over Manchester City back in Week 19. With losses to Swansea and Hull City along the way. It doesn’t get any easier this week against Tottenham, whose stringent defence has allowed a league best 16 goals on the season so far, while Liverpool’s goal scoring ability is main factor in their ability to win games. With a league leading 52 on the season, Liverpool are great at punishing the minnows and putting but scores on the board, however, they have failed to score more than one goal in all of their last 6 games against the big 6 clubs.

Tottenham will try to make this a defensive battle, and it should be a low scoring victory or draw for the Hotspurs.

TIP: Total goals UNDER 2.5 - $1.92 at Unibet

Middlesbrough vs Everton (Sunday 2am AEDT)

If it aint’ broken, don’t fix it. We’ve been riding the Everton train for weeks now. After a poor start to the season, Everton’s weekly odds blew out, and we’ve been capitalizing heavily on their turn of form. While we won’t get the best odds for them this week against Middlesbrough, we can take advantage of their great goal scoring record over the last month. They found the back of the net four times against Manchester City in Week 21, while last week they absolutely hammered Bournemouth 6-3.

Romelu Lukaku jumped to the top of the golden boot table with 4 goals against Bournemouth to move his tally to 16 on the season. While Middlesbrough have been the best of the bad teams defensively, only letting in a surprising 27 goals on the season so far, they have shown a tendency to leak goals to the better offensive sides, as proven by their last encounter with Everton which ended in a 3-1 victory to the Toffees.

I’m confident in this one going over the total goal line set at 2.5.

TIP: Total goals OVER 2.5 – $2.25 at Sportsbet
