2016-17 EPL: Week 24 Preview & Betting Tips

February 2nd 2017, 10:59pm, By: andyrosos

After a very disappointing Round 23 with 3 losses and 1 push, we are hoping to turn our luck around this week with a few wins. The round is headlined by a massive London clash between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Below are our 2016-17 EPL Week 24 Preview & Betting Tips.

EPL Week 24 Betting Tips

Chelsea vs Arsenal (Saturday 11.30pm AEDT)

The game of the round sees first play third as Chelsea hosts Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. The Blues had a disappointing 1-1 draw mid-week against Liverpool after star forward Diego Costa missed a penalty that would have won them the game and won us our bet! It still wasn’t as bad of a round as Arsenal had, however, suffering a shock home loss to Watford on Wednesday morning.

It’ll be a tougher test this this week against ladder leaders Chelsea. The Blues looked shaky at times throughout the Liverpool match, only maintaining 38% possession. Arsenal decimated Watford in every statistical measure except the one that counts, and it’s a safe bet they’ll maintain possession against Chelsea again, who like to sit back and play on the counter.

It’s a tough game to predict, Arsenal won the first matchup between the two teams back in September, coincidentally, since then Chelsea have only lost one game. The home field advantage does a lot for me here, Chelsea’s home record this year is a staggering 10-0-1 while Arsenal’s away record is a less than flattering 6-3-2. I’m happy sticking with the form here and taking the Blues to win.

TIP: Chelsea to win - $2.10 at Sportsbet

Everton vs Bournemouth (Sunday 2am AEDT)

The two teams we’ve been riding for weeks now are Everton and Stoke, they’ve both been in great form of late and have had some favorable matchups. Everton have drawn another great matchup this week in Bournemouth at home. While Bournemouth had been in a bit of a purple patch about a month ago, their form has dropped off dramatically which is perfect timing for Everton. Everton are 5-23 over their last 10 and are slowly climbing up the table, sitting just 5 points behind 6th place Manchester United.

Bournemouth’s form a month ago suggested that they would be well clear of the relegation race for the remainder of the season, however, with a few losses on the trot and an average last 6 games, they find themselves right back in the race, just 7 points ahead of 18th place Crystal Palace.

On form, Everton should get the home victory here, and the $1.72 being offered is well worth it.

TIP: Everton to win - $1.72 at William Hill

Tottenham vs Middlesbrough (Sunday 4.30am AEDT)

Tottenham were kept to a 0-0 draw against Sunderland in the mid-week matchup, but still ended up gaining the point the needed to overtake Arsenal and jump into 2nd place on the table. They’ll be looking to advance even further up with a relatively easy matchup at home this week against Middlesbrough while Arsenal have to travel to Stamford Bridge.

Tottehhams defence has been ridiculous this year, they have conceded just 16 goals on the season so far, tied for best in the league. Middlesbrough on the other hand has been woeful going forward. Their reasonable 15th position on the ladder is due to a ton of low scoring and goalless draws. While they’ve been able to keep out the mediocre teams to hold on for draws, they won’t be able to do that against Tottenham.

At home, Tottenham should claim a comfortable victory here.

TIP: Tottenham to win to nil - $1.87 at CrownBet

Manchester City vs Swansea City (Monday 12.30am AEDT)

After two disappointing results against Everton and Tottenham in prior weeks, Man City got back on the winners list in the mid-week round with a dominant 4-0 victory over West Ham. Swansea have had similar fortunes, after a shocking start to the season, they have bounced back in the last two weeks with upset wins over Liverpool and Southampton.

It should be a better match than the table positions might suggest. Swansea have leaked the most goals in the league this year, and with Man City’s offence starting to look fairly dominant again, it should be a goal fest for the Sky Blues. The attacking prowess of Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Stirling, David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne gives me confidence in Manchester City’s ability to find the back of the net multiple times in this one.

TIP: Manchester City OVER 2.5 goals – $1.80 at Bet365

Leicester City vs Manchester United (Monday 3am AEDT)

Leicester are in a world of hurt at the moment, the reigning champions are on the verge of the relegation zone, just two points clear of 17th place Crystal Palace. Their 2-2-6 record over the last 10 games is tied for the 2nd worst run in the league and if their horrid form continues they could be the first team to win the title then get relegated in the next season since Manchester City in the 1936/37 Premier League season.

Manchester United have only lost two games on the season so far. Their problem is getting wins. They have the same of losses as ladder leaders Chelsea but with nine draws to their name they find themselves 14 points behind the Blues in 6th position. Man U have a fairly easy run coming up over the next six games so they might just take the foot off the pedal for this away game, while Leicester have everything on the line.

With the home field advantage and everything to play for, I like Leicester to come away with at least a draw here.

TIP: Double Chance Leicester/Draw - $2.30 at Bet365
